DRDA staff reiterates demand
ITANAGAR, Aug 10: Reiterating its demand for absorption in the line department of the state government, the All India DRDA Staff Welfare Association Arunachal unit has warned that non fulfilment of its department by August 26 next will invite indefinite pen down strike from August 30 next.
Informing this to the chief minister in a memorandum, it said that the agitation will then continue till the demands are met.
Call for regularisation of SBM employees
ITANAGAR, Aug 10: The All Arunachal Pradesh Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) Employee Association (AAPSBMEA) has called for regularisation of all the Saakshar Bharat Mission employees in the state. It submitted a memorandum to the director of secondary education and state literacy mission authority in this regard.
Its other demands include enhancement of honorarium of state, district and block coordinator by Rs. 25000 per month and village coordinator to Rs. 7000 per month, immediate establishment of adult education centre at 1653 gram panchayats, immediate release of pending state share in the ratio 9:1 from March 2011 to March 2015, immediate release of pending honorarium of SBM employees, immediate supply of teaching learning materials and immediate issue of computer set to all the state, district and block coordinators.

ASF seeks lowering ticket cancellation fees
ITANAGAR, Aug 10: The Arunachal Students Federation (ASF) has sought Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Bus ticket cancellation fees to be reduced to 10 percent from 30 percent.
In its representation served to the APST Superintendent, it said that the present cancellation fees at 30 percent is too high and that even flights and trains do not charge that much amount.
Also requesting streamlining of ticket reserving procedure, it said that the tickets are being sold even before the counter is open and that tickets are being sold to the relatives of the issuing authorities.
ARMSATA demands release of pending salary
ITANAGAR, Aug 10: The Arunachal Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (ARMSATA) has demanded immediate release of the seven month’s pending salary of RMSA teachers since January last by August 16 next. It wrote to the education secretary in this regard.
The association had observed two days pen down strike on July 21 and 22 last.

KKSU decries deplorable govt establishments
ITANAGAR, Aug 10: The Kargu Kardi Students’ Union (KKSU) has drawn the attention towards deplorable condition of government establishments under its jurisdiction.
In a release, it said despite sanctioning of Rs 2 lakhs for maintenance of Govt Sec School, Darak, no provision for separate toilets for boys and girls was made and no ventilation system and fan in the classrooms were installed.
Further informing that the Inspection Bungalow at Liromoba is dilapidated with no ceiling fan, proper ventilation and no chowkidar present, it added that Rs 15 lakh was sanctioned for its maintenance.
The association has further warned of taking action against absentee government employees.

Fire destroys 37 shops in Pasighat
PASIGHAT, Aug 10: The fire accident at Pasighat market that occurred on Sunday evening gutted down 33 shops and partially damaged four. Many structures were dismantled by JCBs as preventive measure to stop the devastating fire from spreading further. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the tragic incident but shopkeepers have lost property and goods worth crores of rupees in the accident.
The fire broke out at about 8.15 PM and the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. Reportedly, two fire tenders from Pasighat police station were pressed into service while a fire tender from neighbouring Jonai, Assam that rushed to the spot was of great help especially in preventing the fire from spreading.

AAPSU demands enquiry into alleged enrollment racket
ITANAGAR, Aug 10: A team of All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) today called on Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi and requested him to institute an enquiry into the alleged illegal enrollment of students in unrecognised schools for CBSE examinations in the state and take action against the wrongdoers involved in the alleged enrollment racket.

Claiming that some CBSE recognised private schools are also selling their seats or CBSE quotas to unrecognised schools, the memorandum said, “the whole process smacks of deep rooted corruption and gross commercialization of the education process. Such process of admission also results in cheating of the education department as the department has to make sanction of stipend money for ‘illegally enrolled’ students.” Claiming that “this nefarious activities” spread its tentacles many districts of the state, the AAPSU requested the CS to direct the district authorities to curb the menace and also to take action against the erring school principals if found involved. Action should be taken against the private schools responsible for organizing such alleged racket with the sole commercial motive and also for cheating hundreds of students as well as the state government, the memorandum said.
The AAPSU further said that the Chief Secretary assured the team of an enquiry committee headed by an IAS officer and with AAPSU representative as one of the committee members to look into the matter and punish the guilty if found after enquiry as per law.
Weavers undergo skill dev training

The main objective of the training was to improve the weaving skills of the local weavers, develop quality local textile designs and products diversification for marketing them outside the state. Several local textile designs were developed by designer Lakshi Bora of Assam during the training programme.
Attending the valedictory function, Senior Project Officer of Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) Hemanta Rabha informed that the trained weavers under this programme would be extended concessional loan from National Schedule Tribes Finance & Development Corporation (NSTFDC) through its respective State Channelizing Agencies/Regional Rural Banks for setting up of their own Handloom units.
Diyun EAC D. Gadi urged all the trained weavers to take up handloom weaving seriously to earn a decent livelihood. He asked trainees to make diversified products having their own traditional design so that the products get market outside the state.
Steel Frame looms were distributed to all the 25 trainees along with certificates.
The training programme was sponsored by India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL), an organization under Union Ministry of Finance, and National Schedule Tribes Finance & Development Corporation (NSTFDC), an agency of Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India and implemented by IIE, Guwahati, an organisation under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India.
RKSK aims at providing health service to adolescents
ITANAGAR, Aug 10: Rahtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakaram (RKSK) aims to provide holistic services, both clinical and community to adolescents of the state and improve sexual and reproductive health by enhancing their knowledge, attitudes and behaviour, said nodal officer (adolescent health) Dr. Amping Perme Ete, while addressing the inaugural function of the 5 day training on Adolescent Friendly Health Services (AFHS) under RKSK, which began at NHM state training hall in Naharlagun today.

ITANAGAR, Aug 10: The recent report about alleged threat made to Joint Director of Youth Affairs Ramesh Linggi by group of people took new turn with department officials and Itanagar police categorically stating that they have not received any official complaint from Linggi in this regard.
An official of the department while expressing surprise over the report stated that instead of complaining to his fellow community member and later issuing statement in media through them, the joint director should have first informed the department about it. “The joint director is a government servant and any issue related to him be it safety concern or any other thing, should first be brought to the notice of department. If we had failed him then he could have resorted to other means,” the official added. The SDPO Itanagar Techi Hanyir told that no complaint has been made by any person in this regard at Itanagar police station.

AACWA welcomes govt. decision to implement property tax
ITANAGAR, Aug 10: All Arunachal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) welcomed the state government’s recent decision to implement property tax in the state.
The association, however, urged the government to set up proper mechanism and a clear cut policy before implementing it to avoid tax evasion.
Meanwhile, AACWA strongly objected to executing of contract works by government officers in the name of their kith and kin.
If they are so much interested in doing contract works then they should take voluntary retirement. Otherwise, they should surrender their contractors’ registration registered in the name of their kith and kin, AACWA said in a release without naming anyone.
Many unemployed youths are being deprived from getting contract works due to involvement of government officers and officials in it, the release said.

Don’t compromise with quality
The pathetic condition of capital road is not only troubling the motorist but is becoming matter of huge embarrassment for the denizens. National highway as well as majority of sector roads is in deplorable condition. The so called repairing work carried out by PWD has only worsened the road condition. In order to fill the potholes, PWD dumped pebbles and sand. However during recent rain it has been washed away. The unprofessional method of road repairing has further destroyed the already dilapidated road.
A bailey bridge constructed near Papu Nallah did not last more than a week. This exposes the inefficiency of PWD engineers as well as that of the contractors. It is quite evident that here public money is being misused. However, surprisingly no action has been initiated against any person for such kind of poor quality work. State government should not compromise with quality of work especially while constructing road. Capital complex is gateway to Arunachal and therefore it becomes more important to have world class road here. Today local media carried news of All Nyishi Students’ Union demanding PWD minister to immediately repair capital road. It is heartening to see pressure group worrying about the pathetic condition of road. They should put pressure on PWD and contractors not to compromise with the work quality.

I would like to bring to the authorities about the grievances faced by the people Mariyang area and their needs.
There should be installation of 3G (Internet) facilities and correction of present technical defect of phone service at ADC HQ Marung.
The BSNL has established telephone exchange at Mariyang, 21 years ago but since the last one year the telephone/mobile service at Mariyang has become very bad that one can’t even talk on the phone.
Hence, technical defects must be corrected and and installation of 3G (Internet) facility at ADC LIQ Mariyang is demanded for the larger interest of public.

We are considered pretty smart, respected and tagged as role model for our society to be followed, this kind of degraded cultural environment accelerate erosion of moral values and condone corruption. More than a legal issue corruption is a moral issue because we know that there are numerous laws to punish the corrupt people and to fight against corruption but knowingly we practice it. We don’t fear for punishment. Why? We are not ashamed of our corrupt behaviour. Why? It’s because morally we are corrupt that’s why more than our conscience we allow our carnal desires to direct our thought and action. One single factor can’t be blamed for corrupting our morality as there are several factors such as the way existing system of our society is running, family environment, negative learning experiences caused by degraded cultural environment of the society, personal greed etc. thus, the need of the hour is to help today’s youngsters to develop sound personal ethical principles regarding not what to do but what not to do so that our future generation can be saved from the disease called corruption.
